To this end, sampling procedures, laboratories, measuring instruments and methods are being investigated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news-img-wrap\">\n<div class=\"outer\">\n<div class=\"mediaelement mediaelement-image\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"text-teaser text-teaser--white\">\n  <h2 class=\"text-teaser__heading\"><\/h2>\n  <div class=\"text-teaser__text\"><div class=\"teaser-text\">\n<p class=\"bodytext\">The German government has set the goal of establishing\u00a0<b>hydrogen<\/b>\u00a0as an essential vector of the\u00a0<b>energy transition<\/b>, especially for mobility and industry. However, rapid networking and\u00a0<b>upscaling<\/b>\u00a0of the hydrogen supply infrastructure must be based on a quality and safety infrastructure. In this context, the monitoring of\u00a0<b>H2 gas quality<\/b>\u00a0in accordance with industrial standards and the corresponding updating of standardisation is a key prerequisite, but one that has not been adequately secured to date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">For the use of hydrogen as a fuel for mobility (from cars to buses and trucks to trains), a secure and\u00a0<b>fluctuation-free quality of hydrogen<\/b>\u00a0is indispensable. This includes traceable measurement of the gas quality, the availability of primary and secondary standards and reliable methods for H2 sampling also under field conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">In the\u00a0<b>RingWaBe project<\/b>\u00a0(Comparability of Hydrogen Quality Analysis), the comparability of the analysis and purity of hydrogen according to DIN EN 17124 for use in fuel cell systems and in various applications with high H2 purity requirements is to be improved and metrologically secured. To this end, various round robin tests are planned for the various process steps with the aim of comparing and validating both the sampling procedures and analytical laboratories, measuring devices and methods in accordance with ISO 21087:2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\"><b>Improved sampling procedures<\/b>\u00a0(including further development of Hy-SaM for 35 MPa heavy-duty refuelling stations) and special online analytics will be investigated for H2 infrastructure (e.g. in future converted or dedicated H2 gas pipelines). The results will be fed back into national and international standardisation bodies and the metrology community.
